I liked the overall look of the place. They have alot of potential. The major problem I had, we ordered 3, yes 3, of their tomahawk steaks (36oz ribeye on the rib) and they were overcooked. The cook seemed very bothered he over-cooked it, but outside of that not much concern. The steaks were seasoned well, it was just disappointing bringing visitors to get the largest steak in town and it being over-cooked. Beware of how your order your meat cooked here.
Second time eating here and both times the food came out barely warm. One more time and I won't ever eat here again. Only thing good about the place was the waiter. Steak was suppose to be medium rare but it was burnt.
Had a wonderful experience dining out at Emerald Stone Grille. The wait staff was pitch perfect and the meal tasted delicious. Glad to welcome this special place to the revived dining scene in downtown Lynchburg!
I thought the food here was great. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was hands down the best I've ever had. The atmosphere here is great too. I loved the huge exposed beams and rock wall.
Unbelievably nice building and atmosphere but the service was very slow with only one waitress. The food was pretty good, the sides were excellent and the steak entree was ok
Was really pleasantly surprised. The Reuben was excellent and the portions were good. Left with really good flavors in my mouth. The wife and I will definitely be back. Super tasty and a great find in Lynchburg.
Food was really good. Service was fine. Portions were good for the price. Overall it was not excellent but it was good. I could definitely eat there again.
Our waitress was very nice, & the food was good, just a bit pricy for me. My steak was cooked perfectly & my asparagus was delicious but 1 order is only 4-5 very thin/small stalks. The rest of the sides others in my party ordered seemed to be a lot more generous.
We had a party of five and our food was delicious and they have a beautiful space. Unfortunately, they were out of 3 or 4 of our first choice entrees which was surprising for 7pm on Saturday night. Our server was friendly but only refilled our water on request. Took a long time for our order to come and some of the sides were cold and one of our orders was incorrect. So, my bottom line is they have a good chef in a great location but poor management.
The food was fabulous and we actually went on St Patrick's Day. We didn't have a long wait and servers were very friendly and helped each other out. We never had empty cups, so if this is holiday service then I bet regular days are the same!
If I could leave 0 stars I would. The hours posted on the door say they close at 12 am. At 10 45 pm my husband and I came in for the first time wanting to grab a quick drink before heading home for the night. We walked in and the bartender (female) said hello and told us they were "technically closed"...We were confused as someone was hanging out, sitting at the bar. She then chimed in with 'we have just been slow all day'.....Okay? We could not believe it. OVER an hour before their posted closing time we were turned away. Will never return. Horrible customer service. How do you turn away money....Very disappointed.
Great food. Charming service. Highly recommend!
A fantastic use of an empty basement level in this great old building. Very nice atmosphere. New! Nice beer selection. All of the selections we ordered looked great and met expectations. Hope to see a couple more vegetarian options as they settle in.
With so many great restaurants in downtown, don't waste your time here. The management is terrible and the food is below average. Just about every order at my party was wrong or inedible. Not one to complain but when we told the owner, she couldn't handle the criticism and basically told us we were wrong. So unprofessional. The waitress was as sweet as could be and it's sad she has to work under such management. Spend your time and money at other downtown restaurants that care about their staff, food quality and customers.
Connecting flight landed so late. I was so happy this establishment was open til 2am!! Irish egg rolls were delicious!! Fast and friendly service!! I did carry out and took it back to my hotel!!
Excellent atmosphere beautiful scenery downtown Lynchburg Virginia!
Best kept secret in Lynchburg... check this place out!
Great service and great menu and usually not very busy. Definitely check it out!!
Loved the overall atmosphere! Bartender was generous food was fantastic! From the Irish egg rolls to the Manhattan I was impressed!!
Our first visit to the Emerald Stone Grill was just after 10pm. Be aware that they still serve food but have an after 10pm menu. That said, the offerings were very tasty and should appeal to late night crowd. We tried the pimento fritters, crab dip, and hummus. It was "wine Wednesday". Glasses are only $5.The atmosphere was very nice. It was quiet enough to enjoy conversation without shouting over music and crowd noises. This grill and bar is definitely worth a try. We will be back.
Bad value. See the biscuits my daughter ordered. They're reheated Pillsbury.
Must have the roast pork tenderloin and fried Brussels sprouts. Perfect.
Laid-back atmosphere, good Irish food and friendly staff.
Great atmosphere, service, food, and drinks. The lamb and the oysters were both amazing.
We will not return here simply because the food is really sub-par. The she crab soup was VERY salty. I don't mean a hint too much salt I mean salt seemed to be the flavor the cook was going for. My wife and I both ordered a 6oz sirloin that came with a baked potato (Because the ribeye we went for, that was on the menu online, is apparently NOT available at lunch). One steak was ordered medium rare and the other medium. They must have misunderstood that to mean "I really need to fix the sole of my shoe; could you make me a patch" because they were cooked to DEATH where we could barely cut through them. The potato on the other hand needed another 20-30 minutes in the oven. No garnish, no bread, no vegetable offered, and no real effort put into cooking anything. Really disappointed. We didn't bother complaining about anything we simply will not go back.
Service and food was outstanding. Everyone raved about the dish they had chosen and even saw forks of “try” this being passed around! Will definitely be returning.
Dont let the reviews of the past leave a bad taste in your mouth. An entire new wait staff has been hired along with an AWESOME seasoned bartender Rucker. Rucker and his crew have to made my experience top notch every time. My friends and I have gone here atleast once a week for the past 2 months and dont have 1 bad thing to say about them.
The hanger steak and fish and chips were cooked perfectly and were delicious
Great service staff ! Horrible food! I got th pork chop, came cold. Asked for a new plate, I was the only one at the table, everyone else got a sandwich or cheeseburger. I received my pleat back, nothing changed they only microwaved, even the waiter apologized for only microwaving. My pork was rubbery and potatoes to hot to eat cause the middle was hot from being microwaved. No managers there except the bar manager, she said sorry. I thing she could of do. Spent $150 with alcohol for food I could not eat. Waiter staff awesome and we tipped them 20%, food and manegment not good!!
